i bought a new pc a few weeks ago and it has digital audio in and out on it. well i talked to the tech support and they said it will hook up to my denon reciever with no problems, only question i have is, do i have to you digital coaxial or can i use just (left or right side) from an rca connection cable, my problem is that my pc is about 18-23 ft away from my reciever.. and i havent had much luck finding a digital audio coaxial that long..... i seen one on ebay but was wondering if any of you make know were else i could get one this long, i think walmart and radio shack only carry upto like 12 feet or something. any help will be greatly appreciated. It is a great idea though, and I've been thinking about getting into something like it shortly. Also, they make something kind of like this for the XBOX which may or may not be cool. Same principle, but with more features. However, if it is anything like their DVD playback kit...it may as well be a door stop. Again, cool idea, but won't vouch for it as I've not used it. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/xboxmediacenterextender.htm Finally, a direct competitor to the netgear piece: http://catalog.belkin.com/PureAV_detail.process?Product_Id=178096 This is cool technology. Let me know if you use it...cause I'd love to know how well it works. :) Pinch UKinstaller on 02/21/2005 11:42:06 you can't use the left or right of an RCA, i've tried it before. it works, but sounds like crap. as far as getting a digital coax that long, you MIGHT be able to maybe use a barrel connector and connect two 12 footers. that's all i can think of. other than that, maybe contact a local home theatre store and see if they can make you one. -UK uochronos on 02/21/2005 11:57:19 my computer is running from my sound card to my stereo no problem. i used a spliter that goes from a dead phone jack into an RCA cable... it sounds wonderfull... this is just my 2 cents but ising a digital coax or useing RCA's properly the differnce in sound quality isnt something most people would be able to tell easily. sort of like useing a Video cable or a S video cable.... i just recently got a TV that can use S-video i hooked it up and switched back and froth betweent he RCA and the Svideo... damn if i cant ell a differnce between the 2. i really have no problem with the sound quality using RCA's and i'm a sound quality freak. also on what pinch was saying about wireless... Best buy sells a wireless audio connection to go betwene any source and the stereo up to 500feeta away. only problem is its 90$ last i check... its the only wireless one i have found that had good sound though. Chronos compvr15s on 02/21/2005 12:40:51 thanx for the info guys, pinch that would be great if i had the wireless router. but within the last month i just bought a brand new linksys modem and a brand new linksys router, that thats gonna be outta the question, i will just hold off on this, my bro just moved out of the house and my computer is in his old room and my big screen tv and all my stereo components are still in mine, maybe i will just switch to his room or move the computer to mine, lol. but i apreciate the replies... wierd thing is that i have digital auido out and in up by where my mouse plug in, and then i have a 5.2 channel sound card down below, figured they would be together... danielm87 on 02/21/2005 12:45:51 Interesting, i have a LinkSys account, router, and modem also. Small world. Well good luck on whatever you decide to do! compvr15s on 02/22/2005 11:04:26 moved my compute to my room for the time being, i just ran a spare sub woofer wire that i had laying arouind, plugged it and it works great, im gonna try a short digital coaxial today, just to see if there is a difference. i found a site on the net yesterday that said the digital coaxial is nothing more than a 75ohm rca cable so i thing there probably wont be much of a difference. thanx alot guys SMILE Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
