Hi, i just bought new kenwood kdc-mp225 to replace my stolen audio for my honda accord 93. Luckily they didnt screw up the cables. So i have this new audio but dont know where and how to start. I want to bring it to the mechanic shop but i think i need to learn it. I need some advice with details how to do it, what equipment i have to buy, what to check and so on.. I know lots of term i need to learn. I have the manual from kenwood but i dont think it is really helping me. Thanks guys Replies (1) compvr15s on 02/21/2005 08:44:07 are you asking for help installing the new head unit???? if so that will be easy, we can help you with no problems. but if thats not what your looking for then i dont understand your post. on your previous headunit did you use a wiring harness or did you splice the factory wiring? and did the thieves just take the head unit or did they get the mouting brackets and all? if you used a wiring harness and they left the install kit without breaking any thing they your job will take probably no more than an hour to install the new head unit. items you will need: screw drivers ( strait ad philips). wire cutters, wire crimpers, barrel connectors( unless you want to soider and shrink tube your connetions, many ppl do this but connectors will work fine too). other than that, take the plug connected to the back of your new head unit with all the wires. strip the ends, usually already done just need to pull the plastic coating off, then connect corresponding colors to your wiring harness that hooks to your factory wiring. as for the ground you may want to make a seperate ground to the chasis of your car, area with baremetal no paint, plastic, carpet and use a self taping screw to hold it in. other than that the rest is just taking apart your dash and reassembling it. also may need an adapter for your antenna, some use large some use the small. you will know if you need the adapter just by looking. good luck, hope i helped. if you need anything else ust ask we will be glad to help you Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
