Just out of curiousity............

I'd like to know people's opinions about Bazooka amps and subs. I see almost every other brand mentioned on this site, including the really junky stuff, but rarely see Bazooka mentioned. Is their stuff worse than even the junk that is mentioned?

Well.......sorry man. All I can say is that I don't talk about them cause I've never owned any or even heard any, so I don't have an opinion. That's why I don't mention them. Sorry.

No apology necessary. I was just wondering, that's all.

yeah i think bazooka kind of sucks. i have never been able to run at the impedance ratings they advertise. some advertise 2 ohm stable and they burn up in no time, others advertise 1 and can only run at 2 or more. pretty weak.

i dunno, whatever floats your boat. but i think bazooka is REAL weak.

Yeah, I know that NONE of the EL line of amps are stable at 2 ohm mono, except for the 300.1 and 500.1, and that caused them a lot of problems due to the confusion.

A friend of mine had one of the older Bazooka bass tubes in his Ram Van years ago. It did indeed make a difference. But there was a lot of cabin gain in that van too.

Bazooka has made some big steps, getting into a full range of products for car audio. If the gear is used as intended (not abused) it will work fine for many low budget installs. May not be as robust or sophisticated as our fav brands here... but if used as designed... should be OK.

You might want to approach this subject from the standpoint of "what do I want to accomplish from this installation" before discussing manufacturers. Each product has a place in the economy.

If you are just looking to add some bass, get youre self some high quality 6x9s, put 'em in the back dash, and put a 75Wx2 amp to 'em and it will do comparable to what those bass tubes can do.

Just make certain that the xover is set to ~60Hz on the 6x9s and you'll not blow them. Recommend Alpine's top of the line 6x9s. Personally, I've lit up a number of them over the decades and they seem to be some of the most reliable.
