Theres one for sale on Ebay and i'm thinking about buying it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ViewItem&category=18804&item=5752837018&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW I've got one Brahma 15" and i want to double them up in the Excursion i'm going to buy. Seems like a serious sub. Whats the "audible" difference between that Tumult and the Brahma in a car? They say its for home audio, but okay for car audio.... Is it gonna be better than the Brahma in a car or not? I'm really interested, they would be a nice pair. PL, you ever seen or heard one of these? What do yall think? To buy or not to buy... hopefully i can steal it for under 300$ _Daniel_ Replies (7) danielm87 on 02/18/2005 19:02:58 Starting my bid at 220$....can only pray that lots of ppl dont jump on it! uochronos on 02/18/2005 19:08:31 thats the differnce it was designed for home audio... to see the differnce look at it on adires web site. Chronos uochronos on 02/18/2005 19:13:45 biggest issue i see is you dont want 2 subs f differnt models or makes playing the same frequencies at the same time. think about it the tumalt has more excursion and differnt abilities.. it would make alot of cancelation issues and would sound muddy... one of them would hit first, hard, louder, deeper, etc then the other it wouldnt sound right... usualy people use say a 10" and a 15" one plays say 20-60hx and the other oplays 60-150hz... but if 2 subs play at the smae time the same frequencies good things dont usualy happen to the sound... if you have the brahma i suggets throwing it in a sealed box andplaying it at the same time as your bahn dont need to be loud or alot of power just enough to show you what i mean. because its hard to explain what it sounds like and why its not done if you haev not heard it.. Chronos P0werLifter on 02/18/2005 19:24:48 I personally havnt heard the Tumult but ive got some buddies online that have them and from what ive heard they hit the lows like no other. at 20hz its hitting 120dB (thats amazing). Anyways as Chronos has said earlier, i wouldnt reccomend using 2 different model subs in a car at the same time, If you have the brahma..stick with the brahma alone or buy another brahma. These subs have different T/S parameters and wont work to compliment eachother. danielm87 on 02/18/2005 22:49:56 Okay THANK YOU guys a bunch. Sound cancellation did pop up in my head, but i've never heard much about it, now i have. hehe. I wont be using the Brahma until that Bahn poops out on me, or until i buy that Excursion next yr. Ya PL the t/s params and stats are crazy! I'm strongly considering adding the tumult to my surround sound system at home. Would make a tremendous difference, especially during the THX entrance theme music at beginning of movies, it plays a great drawn out tune that sounds great from the couch. Anyone know what i'm talking about? The tornado movie "Twister" has it at the beginning. Then all i would have to do is get a few friends to show it off to........lol I propose yall this example= Brahma and Tumult in the same car, 2 ported boxes, tumult box tuned to 20 Hz, amp SS at 20Hz, LPF at 30Hz. Brahma, box tuned to 30Hz, SS at 30Hz, LPF at 80-100Hz Would it be a safe bet?.... just a thought. Would kill just to have both of those in one car....ya feel what i'm sayin? swez on 02/18/2005 22:58:26 The Tumult is more or less designed for HT applications. It hs a high Vas rating of 160 Liters while the Brahma 15" is only 113 Liters. The Fs on Tumult is a whopping low 19 Hz. Fs on the Bramah is 26 Hz. In short, both are very fine drivers in their own right. However, the Tumult is a 2 ohm SVC and designed for very large enclosures. The Bramah is designed for Car audio applications and can use much smaller enclosures with very good results at ~1000 Wrms. Swez danielm87 on 02/18/2005 23:13:38 Always good to hear from old man audio.... What are the wiring options with a 2 ohm SVC sub? Certainly cant find anything online or in the DIY articles on CK referring to it.? Wait a sec....the Adire website says "a 3" diameter, dual 2 Ohm voice coil with plated spring-loaded terminals" TY Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
