CD player problem

To start off, I'd like to remind everyone that this is a Pioneer DEH-P41 deck. I know someone will ask probably.

Weird thing happened today. I'm get in my truck and turned on the stereo, and a Disturbed song is at the end of it's playtime from where I turned it off yesterday. I restarted the song cause that sounded like a good one to listen to at the minute. It played for about 25 seconds and then just stopped right in the middle. I reset it again and it played a little longer and then stopped again.

I figured the CD was dirty, so I cleaned it, but it didn't look dirty before, and it didn't help cause the stereo done it again anyway. I changed CD's and put in a completely different one, and it played fine for about 30 seconds, and then also stopped. I reset that one, and it played, but started hanging up like a broken record, cutting in and out. Then it just quit altogether. I took it out, checked to see if it was dirty, it wasn't so I put it back in again. It wouldn't play at all this time, and every time I put a CD in it after that it would wait a few seconds, and then eject the CD. It never did display any error signs. And also, the receiver part works just fine too. I finally gave up on it and turned it off cause I was at the jobsite by then.

A few hours later, I stuck a straw just inside the CD slot and blew on it to stir up any dust that may be in there. I did this several times with no good results. Then all of a sudden, I guess I got lucky and it started working again, and it played just fine for about 20 minutes until I got home and turned it off.

Does it just need cleaned? Or is it finally giving up on me after almost 5 years? If it needs cleaned real good, do you suggest a CD cleaner disc, or canned air for cleaning electronics?

Also would you take it out, pull it apart, and clean it with canned air, or not?

My truck is not super dirty or anything, but it's not a spic and span clean car either. It's dusty cause I drive it onto jobsites of new construction homes and all. Again, not super dusty, but not slick just freshly dusted either. Sometimes the stereo gets dust on the face of it, and I have to wipe it off, so I figure some could get inside of it too.

I would take it out and clean it with compressed air. Don't think I would go into taking it apart or anything. After you put it back in the truck, a good lens cleaner disc should knock any stray dust from the lens, and you should be good to go.

try a cd laser lense cleaner. They are $10 at the store. Compressed air can nock things out of alignment if not used right.
