I just recently bought a new 2005 Dodge Dakota, I am in the middle of transferring my Sony XPLOD to the new Dakota. I have the new wiring harness, dash kit, and the antenna adapter. I wired the harness wire by wire and hooked everything up by the book. When the harnesses are plug in the sterero does a self check but that is it. The unit will not power up! I talked to Sony last night and they metioned that it might be the unit itself. I went and exchanged the unit and I still have the same problem. Can anyone help me. I know I am overlooking something small and probably kick my self when I put my finger on it. I am just trying to keep from paying the big bucks for someone else to look at it. Thank you. If you used the factory ground wire that could be why its not powering up. Find a place on the firewall or floor pannel and sand down so its shiny metal then us a ring crimp to attach to the end of the ground wire then use a self tapping screw and fix it into to floor pannel or firewall. People might have some other ideas but this is what I would check for first. Good luck, Jay cbyard on 02/8/2005 12:37:03 Thank you Jay! This has been bothering since last night when I was about to give up. I will try that as soon as I get out of work. Take care, Chris UKinstaller on 02/8/2005 17:05:12 i don't think it's the ground. if it were, then the unit wouldn't "self check" itself whenever you plug the harness into it. it sounds like the radio / ignition fuse. check that, i betcha it's blown. -UK Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
