I am trying to hook up a axt500 amp and the protection light comes on and of course nothing is working i followed the installation and double and triple checked the wiring.I'm pretty sure its not the speakers wiring because when i unplug the speaker input the light still stays on.Can anyone help me?

sounds to me like its an internal amp problem
if you have a good ground and a good power wire with no shorts in it. and it is still on when no speakers are hooked up... then i dont see what else would cause it...

The same kind of think happened to my first amp i took it back to the joint i bought ot off they did a bench test and said it was faulty and gave me a new one. I hooked the new one to the cables from the faulty one and its been sweet ever since

agreed with chronos,. just make sure your ground is to a bare metal area with no paint between surfaces. what gauge wire are you using for power? atleast 8awg should be used.
