Head unit won't turn on, but will load/eject cds?

Hi all, I hope someone here can help me, I've just gone out and bought and installed a JVC KD-S595 head unit and put it into my 87 Honda Accord. I'm having a little trouble with it though, I believe I wired it all up correctly (I've done this a couple of times before) but it's not operating properly.

When I press the on/operate button it will not turn on, I have tried holding down on and SEL and that doesn't seem to do anything (in the manual this says that it resets the unit).

However, if I insert a cd, it will show "LOAD" and then just switch off again, it will eject the cd fine as well, if I press the "DISP" button it will show the time for a few seconds as well, and then go back to it's zombie state

Is there anything that I could have done wrong to cause this to do this? How should I go about troubleshooting it, I'm a real newbie when it comes to car audio :/

Please, if can offer any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the switched 12 volt wire (Usually Yellow lead), is not connected, or not connected properly.

That JVC unit will eject/load CDs while the power is off, as long as it has a positive 12 volt connection (Red lead), and is grounded (Black lead).

Try checking the switched connection, and if it is fused, check the fuse as well.
