I was thinking that there should be a thread about some things you should look out for, and maybe a way to fix problem that might occur. the reason im thinking this is ive already had a few problems, first off was back when my cd player would spit out the cds. it got fixed somehow, but well, it happend again. except now it wont even take the cds in. i dont know why this might be happening. another thing, since the cd player wasnt working, i was sitting there listening to the radio, had it kinda loud, and then i turned it off( turned it down first) then lateer on when i turned it on again, it didnt sound quite right, kinda like it was getting sloppy. and when it hits a certain tune, it gets a weird noise. Almost like a cricket chirping. I checked the subs, id ont think they are blown, so im thinking it might be something mechanical. anyone know what might be the problem, or if there might not be one at all? Replies (11) SG86 on 01/30/2005 22:43:40 i guess a little bit of abckround info would help. ive got 2 12 inch Adire Shivas powered by a Jbl bp600.1 and my HU is a Kenwood KDC-MP425. Not sure what kinda speakers i got in the car, but they sound pretty clear. Some of the songs that sounded a little off were Eminem Toy Soldiers. T.I. Be Easy, and Blinded By The Light. swez on 01/30/2005 22:51:06 Sounds like the HU is having some problems here.... assuming you bypassed the JBL sound system amps. Try looking for the reset button on your HU and hit that. See if that cures these ills or not. Swez SG86 on 01/30/2005 22:54:47 I tried that a few times, hasnt worked yet. Any idea what might be up with the sound coming from the subs? i opened the trunk to see where the sound was coming form, and im pretty sure it might be a sub. It seemed tobe palyed when it was a higher note and kinda fast swez on 01/30/2005 23:03:53 Hard to say from what has been mentioned so far. Could be something simple like a air leak in the box, a resonance issue on some part of the car, loose rear deck speaker or worst case, a damaged sub. If you have a short length of garden hose or piping, use it to audio probe your noise. (like a stethoscope sp?) One end in your ear, the other end as a noise seeking conduit. Hope that helps, Swez SG86 on 01/31/2005 14:51:14 i think it might be a problemw ith the sub, hope not though. uhm what else should i look for that might give me some more details? the more i listen i can notice whats wrong with it. it seems to be hitting the notes flatter than it should and not being as powerful. if that makes any sense. SG86 on 01/31/2005 21:56:07 what is a resonance issue? i was looking at the subs, they look fine but when i turned it up a bit i could hear the noise. if its not the subs im thinking it might be something loose int he trunk, but i cant htink of anything that would make that kinda of a sound. im gonna have someone look at it and see what they have to say about it, but thanks swez swez on 01/31/2005 22:07:02 Without hearing and observing the noises, it's kinda hard to say. What I mean about "resonances"... things that vibrate in the car at certain frequencies and SPL. Could be tail light fixtures, trunk lid or rear deck speakers. Speaking of rear deck speakers, are they sonically isolated from the subs? Heavy bass hits can make rear deck speakers go ballistic if they are not isolated from bass waves. Swez SG86 on 02/2/2005 14:56:34 im not sure if they are sonically isolated. they are on the rear doors. how can i find out if they're isolated? SG86 on 02/2/2005 14:58:36 someone told me that the flat notes im hearing might just be the lousy radio. im probally just gonna be getting a new HU soon since my current sucks so much, then i plan on getting a cd with all the frequencys to see if they are all played right anyone know where i can download them? uochronos on 02/2/2005 15:42:01 i wouldnt download them hoestly... buy a test CD they are usualy cheap... www.partsexpress.com sells a couple so do alot of record stores.. if you donwload them and they are all differnt qualities and what not then you dont really get a good idea.... Chronos swez on 02/2/2005 17:50:50 If your rear channel speakers are in the rear doors, that's good and well isolated from the subs. In rear parcel deck mounts, some car makers have a cover that fits over the rear speakers. These help protect the speakers from damage. They also help isolate these speakers from excessive cone distortion caused by high SPL subs in the same air space. Uncovered rear deck speakers can take a real pounding at high bass SPL. The bass waves are so strong, they can really play havoc with rear deck speakers. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
