I bought a "refurbished" (dont know what I was thinking!) KDC-X969 CD Reciever on ebay. I got it all wied and set up but when I went to turn it on, the faceplate wouldnt fold out. I could hear that it was getting power so I messed with it for about 20 mins. I got the faceplate to open once but it closed right back up. Does anybody know whats going on?

no need to fill dumb buying a refurb 95% of the time i would say they work out great i'm running 3 refurbs currently...
anyway first thing i would do is see if there is a reset button on it which there should be... if so see if that fixs it...
if it does nto fix it then i would suggest seeing if maybe the bars that flip it over are bent a little. i had a sony that the bar that flips it got bent just a bit and it wouldnt flip anymore... i un bent it and it works fine to this day...
the 2 other options are is try to get the guy on ebay to take it back... if you paid via paypal and you used there money back guarentee you can go that route too..
or you can take it to a repair shop and get ti fixed...
if you didnt use paypal i suggest that next time, for a very small fee they have a money back guareentee on anything you buy on ebay. i think for a 120$ auction i paid 5.70$ for it and it makes it easier to get your money back if needed...

did you try checking the fuses out?? can't hurt. see if one blew when you were wiring it up.

Well, may be a dumb suggestions..but..eh. I have a Kenwood x979 in my car, and with the face plate flipped up, there's a hidden button under the bottom left of the faceplate...just push on the faceplate there. I don't know if you knew this already, worth a shot I guess.
