Box coming along smooth!

Well, i did something very bad - ...skipped work and started building my sub box.
I was running numbers in volume calcs and port length calcs for an hour or so, then settled on the perfect size and perfect ports. Went to Lowes and got a 4' x 8' sheet of primed .75" MDF, and some 5" PVC. Drew out each peice, got everything cut, put the sub hole in along with the port holes. Gotta wait til this weekend to get it finished. Orrr i could call in sick again tomorrow......nahh
Well, this is everything i settled on -
W-18"
H-22"
D-17"
Int. CF - 3.2
(two) 5" x 16.95" ports
PTF- 40 Hz (no reason to have it lower, my amp's LPF goes down to 40, along with the SS at 40,it'll work perfectly)
I also got the port velocity down about as low as it could go and still have room for the ports on the box.
The box will fit nice and snug in the center of my seat, i might have to bend my wrist to reach the shifter, but it shouldnt bother me too much. I'm hoping for some pretty good improvement out of this box, and if nothing else, then just knowing that the box is perfect for the sub and it wont be getting damaged from an incorrect enclosure, like it was before.
Only thing left is to grab some polyfill to make up a little for the ports' volume....along with screwing and glueing.

How does it sound?

Well i finished her up today, put the Sound Q in there and OH MY! It sounds about 40% louder, hits wayy lower, my lord i love it, and no port noise at all at full volume. I really enjoyed doin the box, it wasnt as hard as i had always thought, thanks everyone for helping me. And it just barely fits comfortably, but nevertheless, it bumbs like a MOTHER. I think what is doing the magic is that i made the PTF 40Hz, and my LPF and SS both are set at 40 Hz, mannn its perfect. Been waitin a while to get that sub setup the way it deserves, and now its got what it wants, and it LIKES IT! and so do i.....I'm already looking forward to future plans to get a box made for my AWES12P, along with another amp to suit it. But of course, the Sound Q is gonna have to teter out on me first.

The forums really gettin a TSUNAMI of posts lately, lots of new members, or is it just car audio help fever? both.

Finally. wont be needin CK again until my sub expires!
Cya then!

Played hooky huh? We all need a day off from time to time. Helps keep the mind fresh and uncluttered too.

Nice work on the new box. See, not so hard if we plan well, take our time and then enjoy the results of our own handy work.

Ohhh, count your fingers and toes... if everyone is accounted for, you've done well on all fronts. LOL
