theres an orange/white wire on the harness. what is it for?

your cars harness or the recivers harnes?
also if the deck works without it cahnces are its a dimmer wire or some other not nessicary wire.

its on the car harness, it works w/o it but then i have a problem i connected everythin right (i hope) and all i get outa the speakers is thumpin no music. if anyone know what the problem is please help.
