Hey guys, ive finnaly got my whole system setup. 2 Adire Shivas powered by a JBL bp600.1. my headunit is a Kenwood KDC-MP425. It finnaly got installed about 2 days ago, and it was sounding absolutly superb. that is until today. i was in the car when all of a sudden the cd started skipping, then got spit out. when i tried to put it back it, there was humming and some other noises, then it got spit out again and it said Mecha ERROR. i tried putting some other cds in, but it did the same thing. anyone know what the problem might be? Replies (6) SG86 on 01/17/2005 20:29:44 oh yea, the radio still works too, i think the actual cd player is the only problem swez on 01/17/2005 21:32:45 Hard to say... in very cold weather, moisture can build up on the CD laser and it cannot read it. In severe cases, the tracking mechanicals may have to defrost a bit before they work properly again. In this case, it sounds like a mechanical failure may have popped up. A quick call to Kenwood Tech support may help you identify the cuprit and what to do about it. Swez PS How do the Shiva's sound with your JBL 600.1? ttocs on 01/17/2005 22:56:22 look and see if there is a reset button on the deck. It is normally very small(tip of a pen size) and can be on the main face, or behind it. If you cannot find it, disconnect pwr to it for a few seconds and then reconnect it. This can be easily done by pulling the +12v constant fuse, sometimes under the cig lighter label. SG86 on 01/18/2005 12:55:24 oh man, they sound awesome. Ive already gotten a few complements about them. I put them in a QLogic 1.25 ft sealed box. They seem to hit accuratly and pretty darn loudly. And it has been very cold, so i brought the headunit in for the night and am about to try it again, and if that doesnt work, im calling Kenwood Tech Support SG86 on 01/19/2005 13:59:05 Holy Toledo! It has risen from the dead. All of a sudden i deciede to try and put a cd in, and to my surprise, it actually said reading... then palyed it! i dont know what happend, but it works again for some reason. though im pretty happy about this, its still kind of odd swez on 01/19/2005 21:07:51 It's the cold weather no doubt.... glad you're back in action again. On the Shiva's, I made a custom sealed enclosure for a guy a while back using a pair of Shiva's, a 600 Wrms Sony amp and sealed enclosure w/ 1.5 cf/chamber. Although the looks of the Shiva were not very impressive, when I hooked them up to my test amp, I was very impressed with the results. Solid lows, good upper bass and clean as all get out. He spec'd the enclosure size. I would have gone with 1.25 cf/chamber as you did for tighter low bass and better linearity at higher SPL. But when we installed them in his Concord, they bumped very nicely. He was happy, I was please and all went well. Good luck, Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
