THINK Hey whats up fellas? I had a question (i know its newb but hey why not ask). I know all the math to find the CuFt of an enclosure,,,, But i wanted to find out the Area of my port in square inches. Im pretty sure the equation is simple but uhh..im pullin a blank here haha. My port is 16.5 (h) x 8 (w) x 27.5 (L) You dont have to do the math, i just wanna know the equation of lead me in the right way (math was never my strong subject) Thanks Jason Replies (6) swez on 01/16/2005 19:19:53 If I am not mistaken, a slotted port is still a form of air chamber and the internal air volume equation would be the same as any other box or tunnel in this case. H x W x D x thickness of walls = the internal air space The math: 16.5 x 8.0 x 27.5 x .75 = 2722.5 in^3 (1.56 ft^3) This assumes the measurements noted, were taken down the center of the port. I sure hope I have that right. Would hate to steer ya wrong. Math was not my strong suit either... SMILE Swez P0werLifter on 01/16/2005 20:01:28 Ah gotcha i was thinking that also but wasnt really quite sure. Makes more sense that a slot port has more surface area than a circle port. cplkittle on 01/17/2005 17:01:48 that is one huge port! to change from a circular to a square, just multiply by 3.14., and yes they seem larger (round port 4" dia=12.56 square inches which would be the same as a 6.25"x2") the length would be the same. P0werLifter on 01/18/2005 17:42:59 What can i say? Nothing says "im serious" like 8^ft enclosure with a 16.5x8x27.5 port GRIN cplkittle on 01/19/2005 07:22:05 what kind of subs are you using? P0werLifter on 01/19/2005 12:35:04 right now its a single 15" Resonant Engineering XXX with 1600watts running to it @ 1 ohm. The amp is a PowerAcoustik 3000db (2300rms at 1ohm) soon to be replaced with an Orion 2500d. The Sub can run at higher RMS than its rated but im gonna leaveit for now. With the current settings I hit 141dB @ 38Hz Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
