Pioneer Player Locks up

I've Pioneer DEH-P8500MP and it's been working awesomely great since it came out and been installed. Two days ago, all of a sudden the automatic flap didn't open all the way and opens till the postition as of eject button is pressed and closes and goes in the loop of that, half opens and closes. Now if I let it close and press reset button in front, it works only if I don't press open button, SOME of the CDs works fine. That is also the thing that NOW, since this happend, not all CDs works, even the one which were working. Is this fixable. I love this MP3/CD player you made it so effecient. If you have any fix for it, let me know. Since I installed this myself two years ago, I know more than little about it. I'll be anticipating for a reply. Thankyou.

ooooh sorry bud but it sounds like your HU might be on her last legs. where did you get it from?? usually if it is out of warranty, the place you got it from can have it fixed, but they'll charge you. hopefully it just needs a real good cleaning.

automatic faceplates are nitorious for this... sounds like 1 a bad connection, 2 a bent or slightly out of alignment pice causeing a mechanical problem or 3 a bad internal circuit...

i had a sony in the wifes car do a similar thing it would open half way and close over and over sometimes it would open fine and work fine other times just loop over and over trying to open,... in this case one of the arms that rotate it was out of alignment and bent it slightly and it worked fine.

i would check all of the things i mentioned see if any of them look to be the problem... if not then i'm sure ttocs and swez and the others have some ideas hear as well.

Good luck!

go to pioneer's website, and find an authorized service center. They can fix it for <$100 or so.

CDs issue..might just need a cleaning and the problem is just coincidental to the flap giving you flap.

PS I've always hated the flipdown faces, they do nothing for anything other than make more room to show pretty dolphins on screen. Great player though.

This sounds like the same problem that most of those units had. Mine did the same thing for a couple days, than just stopped working. I had a warranty on it so I got it repaired that way. From what I have heard though it is a problem with the ribbon cable going from the face to the unit. I think Pioneer sells a replacement part for this on their website for like 10-15 bucks.
