#1- What hooks up where on an amp? I do not have a manual for the amp I just recieved (Ample Audio A414X). One end of the amp has screw plate connectors for +12v, rem, gnd, 20a fuses, and speakers. The other end has RCA plugs, hi-input plugs, gain settings, crossover settings, & power and protection LED's. I'm assuming that the speaker inputs (from the HU) are the RCA/hi-input end, and speaker outs are the screw plate end. Are my assumptions correct?

#2- I have a stock factory Chrysler HU (not an Infinity system) with plain wire for the speakers coming out of it, no RCA's or other type of wires for speakers coming out of it. Do the speaker wires connect to the hi-inputs or the RCA inputs?

ok since your useing a stock HU you have no RCA's so you well plug the speaker wires into the Hi-inputs, and just disregard the RCA's for now.

all your assumptions here seem to be correct, the hardest thing here well be getting a Remote wire i'm unsure what you use for a remote when using a stock HU ttocs or swez can probaly help you there,

So I will need to aquire some adapter plugs to use the hi-inputs?

The wiring diagram I have for the HU shows a "power ant/amp(use for infinity Rafio)" wire. I'm thinking it may be for the power ant on cars that are not equipped with the Infinity system. I going to see if it is functional on the HU I have. If it's not, then I plan on using a lighted toggle switch for the rem.

good plan for the REM.... the hi inputs should be speaker level inputs are theer 8 of them? if so then just run the wires from back of HU to the amp and hook in on corosponding terminals. get the idea?

The hi-inputs are rectangular female sockets with 4 little prongs in each one. They are right next to the RCA plugs. That's why I'm assuming I'll need an adapter to use them. If I can't find any adapter plugs for them, could I use to LOC's and hook into the RCA's?

In a new amp kit, there is an adapter harness (4 wire sets) that correspond to each channel from a typical HU. (Front L&R; Rear L&R) It's a pigtail that plugs into the amp with an 8-9 pin female molex and 8 wires coming out. These mate to the HU speaker wires.

If you did not get that pigtail, you may find them as extras at a car audio install shop. If not, can either contact Ample Audio for one or use an LOC at the HU speaker outs and run RCA lines, back to amp. Many feel the RCA line is a better (less noise) way to hook up an amp.

The Rem power switch will work fine. I have used lighted switches that light when on, light goes out when off. (amp is off)

Well it looks like Swez has got you covered, just make sure you get an adapter that fits the amp and don't force fit anything. Let us know what you think of the amp after you get it installed. The specs look OK, I'm interested to hear back how it sounds.
