hey guys i have a question that i need help with asap, workin on a jeep cherokee with the infinity gold system in it. well i didnt realize this till i had the new head unit hooked up.. found tha amp under tha back seat, question is, on the amp there are two wire harnesses, is one wires runnin from the head unit, and the other wires runnin from the amp to the speakers. im pretty sure they dont make an adapter for this, and im sure the new head unit has more output power, but if there is no harnees. can i just run 8 wires from the head unit speaker hookups to one of the harnesses that run to the amp under the back seat??? if no then we will have to run wires to each speakers with means probably a full day of work?? please help, the sooner the better. thanx Replies (6) compvr15s on 12/27/2004 15:49:56 bump, please hurry guys uochronos on 12/27/2004 16:18:45 there should be a harness to by pass the stock unit and run to the speakers. the other option is run all new wires stright from speakers to HU. which like you said is several hours of work. i have seen alot of infinity systems bypassed with adaptors though... dont know why they wouldnt make one for jeeps. Chronos compvr15s on 12/27/2004 18:01:44 well i went to the stereo shop and jeep dont have a bypass harness, so what im gonna do is try and find a diagram for the infinity amp and see which wires run to which speakers and then just wire them leads to the head unit, then i wont have to disassemble every door and run 20 foot so speaker wire. any ideas were id find the diagram for this amp? i found one for a 1999-04 jeep but the amp is different. if i could get the color coded schematics or even a numbered diagram it would make things alot easier than its gonna be if i cant find the diagram. compvr15s on 12/27/2004 18:29:46 it would be great if i could get all the info possible on this by tomorrow, i really didnt think about it having the infinity gold system in it untill i looked on the grills and seen infinity or i would have asked for this info earlier. hope somone knows where to get a diagram or can tell me what each wire runs too, im not even sure which plug is the input from the HU and which plug runs out fo the amp to the speakers. thanks again guys, hope im not rushin anybody but ive been lookin online and im gettin flustered. and my anger management classes from the past are telling me to just step away for a while and calm down, no reason to get frustrated over some information that maybe somebody here has knowledge on. swez on 12/27/2004 20:52:02 Anger management classes... good thing to learn while young. That will keep you from blowing your fuses on silly things that do/don't matter in a few days! Good for you! Some simple probing (with a meter) can tell you which harness on the amp, leads to the speakers or HU. 1. Can use a volt/ohm meter to probe the wiring harness you think to be the speakers with an ohmeter. Should see readings of 2-10 ohms if you are on speaker lines and hear clicks/pops in each speaker zone as you probe. 2. If you grab the HU output line first, the ohmic readings will be high numbers with the HU off and harness disconnected from HU. (infinity resistance... no readings) If you turn the HU on at very low volume, connect the harness to HU, should get some AC voltage signals off that feed into amp. Use ~10% HU volume and see what AC voltage readings you get. ( I would think, 2-5 volts would be normal) These tests will help you determine which wire set goes where, to and from the Infinity amp. Finally, are you planning to replace the stock speakers eventually? I am not sure on Infinity Gold systems, if the speakers are a typical 4 ohm load or something different. That's why I gave a range. Have found most GM vehicles use a 4 ohm set up front and 10 ohms in rear to balance out SPL for proper staging.
