Looking for suggestions on EQ/ Line Drivers

I am currently looking at EQ/ line drivers for a 4-channel amp setup with a separate sub amp.Swez had suggested an Audiocontrol which he was familiar with

http://www.audiocontrol.com/MobileAudio/Products/index.html

Seems to have what I'm looking for but a little pricey ($219)and not too available, any other suggestions out there?
I also have a question about this Clarion:

http://www.cardomain.com/item/CLAEQS744

Good price but will it also function as a line driver w/ it's 7v output?

My HU is a Pioneer only putting out 2.2v on two sets of RCAs and I really need a stronger signal and I'd like a separate RCA going to my subs amp (I now have it daisy-chained off of the 4-channel)
Thanx, Tego

audio control makes some of the best EQ/Crossovers/line drivers on the market... i bought a EQX and i would buy another if i had need they are worth every penny.

off of www.froogle.com you can usualy find there products alot cheaper then retail price with cheap shipping..

also audicontrol has the best customer service i haev ever delt with, i got my EQX cheap because it was missing the power cable. i called audiocontrol and they sent me a new one free of charge arived 2 days later. i was very impressed.

I have the EQS and will tell you that you won't find a better unit then it. The customer service is great. I've had a few of their older units and they worked better then anything at the time. Their worth the extra effort to get if your really into SQ.

can I be honest? Just about any line driver will work exactly the same...just like RCA cable.

If you are using an EQ or crossover, you have a 'free' one by turning up the gain on that by 3db on the OUT match. Just make certain you're not overdriving the EQ/xover and you're good.

PS Yeah, You'd probably want a little stronger signal going to the woofs or the fronts.

i agree any line driver well do the same thing but he was looking for one combined with a EQ. from personaly experience i know a cheap EQ and a expensive EQ have a big differnce... i had a crappy EQ some off brand got it for free from a friend for helping him. and then later bought a EQX from audio control. i can defiantly say that the EQX sounds better added less interferance better at cutting out frequesncies. and in general seems to be an over all better unit..

after all cheap resistors, coils, etc sound worse then expensive ones right? resistors and coils that are tolerance matched from left and right? i know the average person may not find a huge differnce here. but i think its an understate meant to say a lower end EQ/line driver and a Audio control EQ/line driver are not going to sound differnt.

this may not be for everyone and your right any line driver well work here but i think the audio control one has alot of features that the average EQ/line driver does not and alot of better components. is this not correct? dont get me wrong here Mr.B i have great respect for your knowledge just from what swez has said about you, but i think you may be udnerstateing the differnce between a really nice EQ/line driver and some Cheaper counterparts..

Mr. B makes a solid point. If we can get a clean +3dB boost from a LD, EQ or other device, that doubles the HU voltage (RCA) from 2.2 volts to almost 4.5 volts. Plenty of signal to drive dual amps in a daisy chain configuration. The trick is to set the gain on all amps used, so that they offer clean input/output signals. (adequate SPL matching too)

Personally, I like a quality EQ in the mids and highs. The bass is just a matter of preferences. If one likes deep lows and less MB, a typical LPF can deliver just that. However, if we desire solid lows and good punch MB, then.... a bass EQ feature is the way to go.

The old addage applies... "Ya get what ya paid for".

Good advice.Yes I've also found that w/ car audio you usually get what you pay for,but every once in a while, w/ some searching you come across a score. I am wondering if anyone can tell me the major differences between these two units?
The Audiocontrol goes for around $200 and the Audiobahn goes for $60 and they both seem to have comparable specs.Any one w/ any experiecce w/ either unit?

likely the biggest differnce is internal parts audiobahn is good quality internal parts and mass produced. audiocontrol are hand built and tested and have a bit higher quality resistors and coils etc.

well you tell a huge differnce likly not.... i'm a huge SQ freak for a tiny bit of SQ i well go along way... like i said before i could tell the differnce between a cheap crossover and a top of the line one same with eq. but for the average user the audibahn one well likly be more then suitable... unfortunatly its hard to find a place to hear them side by side...

Part of making a good selection is knowing what you need and what features will get you to that point. After looking in detail at the Bahn model mentioned, it has good features, adequate specs and a low cost.

The Audiobahn AEQ 6Q Pre-Amplifier EQ/Line Driver has plenty of LD voltage for your 2 amps. It has good EQ features and is very cost effective. With a careful install and attention to manual setup procedures, it should work out fine.

Is it the quality of AC products? Probably not... but still useful.
