Well, there are a few basics to consider here:

1. Make sure the sub matches your amp load properly
2. The 2x6" MB drivers will need their own separate, air tight chambers which can be integrated into the sub box
3. It would be best if the sub were facing the rear bumper
4. The MB drivers might sound best if they fired forward or upward, depending on how you plan to place the box in relationship to the rear seats

What amping strategy are you considering? Try to spell out in some detail, what your overall plan is. With the big picture in hand, we can give you more details and tips.

PS We need to get the right load for the amp you plan to use here. That will also help determine which sub you should be considering. The sub choice will dictate the enclosure size needed. Do you have any brand preferences for your 6's and sub?

i have 3 amps 2 choose from,2 are phoenix gold(a 500wX 1 channel, and a 300wX2 when its bridged) so i was going to run the 12" off the 500w and the 6"s off the other.i have a bbg amp which is less powerful but im going to use this to run a set of 6X9s ive moulded into the boot door.
basically im looking for a good quality sound with a good bit of thump on demand.due to confines of space and my limited skill they will have 2 face more or less outward with maybe about 30 degrees 2 play with.
as regards 2 power im in th process im in the process of installing a 2nd identical battery under the bonnet with a split charging unit so i can run my audio equip off 1 without flattening the other battery.
the subs in question are all jl audio(noy sure what model)i also have 2 audiobahn 12"s i could use as an alternative.as always ur input is much appreciated, thanks, dave

The first step you need to do is to find out what's the best SF for each of the speakers. Then plan on which lay out you like. Make a seperate section in the box for eack speaker. If it was me, I'd have the 10 straight ahaed and the 6's crossfired at about 15 degrees.

Cliff,

"Crossfiring" speakers will often lead to cancellations at the apex of where their signals meet. (depends on the distance from the speakers, to the listener) The "outfiring" option is best for low cancellation issues and good stereo imaging.

Fish,

You have a good basic concept going here. Plenty of amping power available too. (nice amps, PG)

Power management will be an issue when you really press into the bass. The battery isolator will help, but it will also pull at least 10A additionally, to keep that BAT charged.

Also, the MB (6" drivers) will not need a whole lot of power to bring them to presents. Depending on efficiency of these drivers (and ohmic ratings) 50-75 Wrms might be very adequate. (good MB punch here when filtered properly)

My concern is front stage power and imaging. How do you plan to address this issue? Most guys want their quality speakers (and adequate power) up to the front stage. MB and subs in the rear stage.

Can you give us a list of what you have now? (amp & speaker/sub model numbers) With that, we can give you some options on how to configure this system. Also, what HU make and model are you going to use here?
