Ok, I talked to a guy on elemental disign and he says that the 12" kv2 is good with 1.5cu and 34 hz. In this diagram its has 1.5 cu and 24 hz. the guy on th support says that its louder if i make it 34hz for my music rap, so how will i need to change sum dimentions on the box to make it 34hz

thx THINK

Im assuming your talking about a ported enclosure. What are your current out dimensions of your enclosure? also, what are the port dimensions you have right now? Width, Height, Depth?

In general, the shorter the port, the higher the tuning frequency, the longer the port, the lower its going to tune the enclosure.

once you give me your box dimensions, i can plug them in and tell your the length of the port your need in order to tune it to 34hz

This should give you everything

Well that is not a ported enclosure as far as i understand the design... It looks to be a TL enclosure..

this wud be useful for u to understand the calculations..

A wavelength is the distance sound will travel while one cycle of the sound occurs.

The speed of sound varies a little depending on air pressure. So the speed of sound is different at sea level than it might be in the mountains.

And that also means the wavelengths will be longer or shorter depending on the air pressure.

The speed of sound is a very important variable when calculating wavelengths of sounds.

For instance if your listening to a bass note that's 40Hz, that means there are 40 cycles per second, if the speed of sound where i am is 1127 feet per second ( that is at a temperature of 20'c)

if you want to determine the speed of sound at ur place u can use this calculator.. put in the average temp that remains thru out the year at the place u stay..

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/sound/souspe.html

then we can figure out that each wavelength is 28.18 feet long. We do this by dividing the speed of sound by the frequency, in this case 1127/40=28.18...

use the speed of sound u get and devide it by the tuning frequency you want .. say 34 Hz... now you will get the wave length of that tuning freq..

now the path length of that Transmission line shud be 1/4th of the wavelength... say u get X wavelenght... then the path length shall be X/4..

so in all the folds of the path shud add up to X/4..

this shud help u ...

Yup, Looks like a TL design to me. For your application and your experience (if i remember correctly you havnt built many enclosures if at all) this type of design is complicated and not well suited for someone with less experience. Not to say you cant do it, by all means if you wish to try, and we can help, but also keep in mind, a properly tuned and built ported enclosure can sound very good also GRIN

WIll the enclosure ED sent you to fit in your car? How much space do you have to work with?

I was gonna make 2 of those boxes and put them in the trunk of my neon, is it true this box will get good spl, if so how do i change the box dimensions to fit 34hz, or does my trunk have to be a factor, thx

i guess u didnt read my previous post.........??? also what powerlifter meant to say was that wud these box fit in ur car??? do u have enough space in the car??.. orelse after building it u wud have to let it lie in a corner of ur garage if they dont fit in ur car.. so first check what space do u have and how we can utilize it to its best.......

the box is going to be roughly ( ROUGHLY) 14.5" x 22" x 14.5" if u tune it to 34Hz .. keep a margin of 22" + 2" length wise.. and then measure your trunk.. can it take one or two of these boxes..

that wud give us a clear view of the kind of enclosure u really need.. a TL here is really not needed ( i am advicing this cause its gonna be a tough time for u to understand and implement this box building project) .. how ever if u wish to do it.. we can surely walk u thru it....

hey.. i forgot to tell ya.. those are inner dimensions.. so u need to add up the material thickness to those dimensions..
