Chronos Victor on 11/28/2004 14:11:17 agreed both of them are a great product range.. Much of it depends on what kinda amplification and installation u r planning to do.. Usually selection of a sub and an amp depends on the kind of bass you are looking for.. the kinda of music u listen to.. wud be of great help if u wud tell us what r u exactly looking for.. comments..?? Victor... swez on 11/28/2004 19:13:06 The post was originally started elsewhere. What he wants to know, is how Alpine Type R speakers stack up against the Type S version of a 6.5" Comp set. His actual question concerns the SWR-176A vs SWS-171A. Just a little clarification here, Swez cplkittle on 11/28/2004 22:05:54 The SWRs can handle more power and achieve louder volumes throughout their range. The midrange speakers are brighter sounding and hit somewhat lower than the type S components. The highs are a little louder than the type S allowing for proper adjustment to be made on the crossover. ( on every set of type S components I have installed, I have had to set the tweeter gain on the highest level for it to balance out ) Overall there is a definite upgrade in sound, and in my opinion it is a good match for the price difference. I would highly recommend visiting your nearest Alpine dealer to compare the two. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
