Have you looked at Elemental Designs for a solid SQL driver. The 16Kv.2 will manage that power with ease. It's a little higher than your budget suggested, but these subs are well designed, handle the power and are considerably cheaper than other subs in this class of performance.

http://www.edesignaudio.com/kv2.htm

Listen to the features review on the Kv.2 series. He moves fast on the audio clip, but it is clear to me, these guys really strive for quaility, durability and a consistant product as they ship.

The low price is due to buying direct from the factory. No middleman markups are present so one gets a comparable driver to the big boy toys, at substancially lower costs per unit. This sub would easily sell for close to $300.00 at retail outlets and over $200.00 off an Internet web site.

Check it out! I believe they are worth a bit more as the buyer gets more. (Ie: much cheaper than Bahn, RF, Adire and other high power subs) The Kv.2 is available in 2+2 or 4+4 DVC coil alignments.

If I where to buy the 2 Kv.2 12"s and the amp, will I get alot of bass
Something else, wut is the rms for these subs, I looked half way down on the left side and it says continuous power handling 300rms, is that right , in the description it says 150-550Wrms

Thx

Is it necessary here to have a 2+2ohm DVC.. cant we give a look to 4ohms SVC subs too??????

comments...??

P.S- How would these compare to 2 alpine type r's 12"s

audionewb on 11/28/2004 16:46:30
I don't know about the type r's but I can vouch for the 16kv2's. I have them set up on an Infinity 610a amp, the same way you are going to hook them up and they sound good.

He could use a 4 ohm SVC here. It's just a bit more challenging to find a 15" SVC that can handle 400-500 Wrms.

The power rating these guys are using (e-Designs) is similar to how JL rates their subs. These subs are comfortable with as litle as 150 and as high as 550 Wrms input.... provided it is a clean 550 Wrms.

Still, what do you personally think is better, these e designs or alpine type rs

Ps if i used a jbl 600.1 amp, with 2 12"kv2's or 2 type r 12"s , whats gonna get more bass

2Fast,

Both will be loud at that much power input. If you are looking mainly for high SPL Bass, the enclosure design is the key to getting every dB of SPL out of the subs/amp used.

Sealed are the least efficient, but have very linear bass response. (good SPL, good SQ)

http://www.edesignaudio.com/im/main/12%20REC%20SEALED%20REV5.10.04.pdf

Ported boxes offer a 3-6dB boost in bass at the port tuning frequency range. (good SQ, more SPL)

Vented enclosures can add up to +6dB more bass when tuned well to
the subs used. Very efficient, good SQ, very good SPL)

Bandpass is a very efficient, but a more complex enclosure to build. It is very efficient with high SPL output ability.

A little research will give you lots of building ideas on various enclosure designs for whatever subs you choose. Just make sure the sub is suited for the box style you choose.
