i recieved a sony cdx c4750 from my friend steve that he was going to throw away because it would not have any sound after we tried all the basic stuff and realized it was something in side.i have it apart but cant see any kind of noticalbe short and do not have the knowledge or a scamatic (besides whats on the board) to direct me . i would hate to chuck a perfictly good radio because i couldnt replace the $5.00 resister or maybe the amp! so i have been on this agravating machine in hopes of fixing the other one in time to put it in her car for her birthday and this way the radio keeps in the family instead of the city dump. any knowledge or ideas would be great or even a easy fix.the cd player ,receiver,eg all function normal except of course there is no sound!

Hummm, if all the other functions on the HU are working, the most logical place to look is the power amp section. Either a problem in the power supply that feeds the internal amps or the power transistors are shot.
Found a site with "free" repair manuals and such. This may help you figure out what has gone south. You need to register first, then you can load the program for the HU model you have.

you rock man! i was on all kinds of sony /affilated sites and was bounced around with no kind of reply or anything close to a faq that was similarto mine and you comeback with exactly what i need!

Sony will be of no help to you friend. They are geared toward selling lots of products... not servicing (tech training) them when they break. They will just send you to a Sony repair station and let them fix it.
My guess, that site does very well and I was very lucky to find it in short order... Hope it helps,

went to the site you gave and this intolerable piece of equipment is telling me it dos nt exsist,but google will sell it to me for 9.25 and sony & crutchfeild will sell it for 25.95!!!!!!!!!!!

It appears to be a RAR file. You'll need to download winRAR here-
http://www.rarlabs.com/rar/wrar341.exe
Install winrar, then try and open the file. It should decompress the rar, and you can drag the PDF of the schematics, or whatever it is, onto your desktop.
Now, if you can't open the decompressed file because you don't have acrobat reader, which is needed to read PDF files, you can get that here-
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
