4 channel amp

Ok, next question(s). I just got a 4-channel Rockfor Fosgate 1500 watt amp. The problem is that I only have one Kicker Comp VR 15inch subwoofer with Dual Voice Coils. I have it ran parallel so I have one positive and one negative wire to hook into the amp. Problem is I have 8 positives and negatives to choose from. I hooked it up by bridging it on one side, but i cant seem to get much power out of it. Could it be because i have 8 gauge power wire? Do you suggest I get a 2 channel amp with less watts. And how many watts do you think is enough for the one 15 inch Comp VR.

well, the RMS on the comp vr 15 is 500 watts, so im thinking that 1500 watts is goin a little overboard for this sub. i also would not recommend a 4 channel amp for running a subwoofer. it just makes things more difficult. for this woofer, i'd most likely go with a mono amp, as i would in most subwoofer applications. 4 channel amps are usually used for running components or interior speakers, unless you have 4 subs that you are trying to run off of this amp.

what is the model number on the amp?

what version of the comp vr 15 is this?

and 8 gauge power is not nearly big enough for 1500 watts, you will need 4 gauge at a minimum.

answer my quesions and i should be able to help you a little more.

Bob, THINK

May I suggest that you read the FAQ: http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?g99_92

This will help all of us, to help you make intelligent and informed choices on your system needs and how to get the most from what you have now and/or buy later.

The "shotgun" approach used now is not the best way to go about this process. Since you are a newbie, we'll be gentle and patient for now. The more detail you give us about what you intend to do, the better we can help you get where you are going.

Need some specific details from your end:

1. Sub version you have now (2 or 4 ohm DVC?)
2. What size/style, enclosure are you using ? (sealed or ported?)
3. Provide all product numbers and web sit links for products you either have now or are considering to purchase
4. That Kenwood MONO amp mentioned, what model # is that?

The more accurate data you supply now, the quicker we can help you figure out the best product to use and even where to buy them at low prices.

Swez

PS Try to stay in one topic heading with each phase of this process. Is much easier to review all key details off one thread then hunting through multiple threads to find information about your progress.

Thanks,
The Managment team
