add amp to bose system

fellas,

i'm taking on a side job next week, and it's something that i luckily have not had to deal with in the past, but i took it on, so i have to do it ya know??

i am going to add an amp/sub to a 2003 Yukon Denali with a bose system. soundgate makes a part that is specifically designed for adding amps to bose systems, and apparently the newer bose systems are fairly complex. do i have to buy this part?? it is model number LOCB.2

the reason i ask this is that first of all it's a $120 part. i can order it through work, but it will still be alot of money. the other reason i ask is because i have been told that i can tap into the factory sub in the back of the yukon and get my rca's from there using a standard LOC instead of a real expensive, high tech one. the LOCB.2 even requires 12 volts!!

any suggestions?? i'd like to get by having to get the part, but if it's gonna sound like crap if i don't, then i guess i'll have to get it.

bose uses alot of wierd impedences to make it hard to integrate into. you can try a regular loc but it is at the risk of the system. Iw ould not say it is worth it, it would certainly cost more then $120 to replace any of the pieces in the system.

yeah i think i'm gonna use the $120 part. it's a t-harness that plugs in behind the radio and provides RCA's. you ever taken the dash off on an 03 denali ttocs??

i don't think it is a problem, just like all the other gm's. Pull the front part sourounding the deck and gauges staight off. Just be glad you do not have to bypass the onstar crap, that can be a pain.............
