Gonna hook up my amp and subs in my dads car- an 89' Toyota Cressida. I'm testing a used amp i bought that just aririved. -Coustic 801DB (older, powerful model) will be running @ 4 ohms = 400RMS. -Into two Audiobahn AW1251Ts. -It's a class D amp, also. -Wondering if i'll encounter any problems, better to be safe than sorry, i dont want to blow my dads battery or hurt anything. I reckon the car has a decent ALT also. Soon as i get reassurance, i'm gonna go ahead and start wiring. Thanks in advance! Then you will know what to do next. My guess, it will be somewhere between 75-90A peak output. Can also fuse the main power line a bit on the low side to keep the amp from pulling too much current. (25-30A fuse) That will protect the BAT/ALT from any damage due to large current pull from that amp. If the fuse blows, the amp will shut off, but prevent heavy current draw by that amp. FYI: 400 RMS/13.5 = ~30A of current draw. A #8 wire is adequate for that level of power as well. It will take (#8) 40A with ease and rated up to 50A if short wiring is used. Hope that helps Grasshoppa, Swez SMILE danielm87 on 11/11/2004 19:58:00 Yes, Master. CLAP Helped indeed, just going to be wiring them up tonight at the house, then back over to my apartment. Thanks for the info, i'll be using 4 guage, so, no worries. Can't wait to hear em! Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
