I have purchased a punch stage 3 in a rockford punch ported box, but wante more bass. I am trying to make 1 12" sub sound like 2. I have an extended cab truck and Had to take both 12" subs out for family reasons. I have a 1000w amp. I have a chance to exchang the punch stage 3 and the box for a 12" rockford fosgate power stage 1? can anyone tell me which one would be better. I want hard hitting bass but clear as can be.

If they are exchanging the punch stage 3 with a new power stage 1 for free then of-course its a better deal..Power stage 1 is a more advanced piece of equipment..

Put it in a 1.3 cubic ft of sealed enclosure if you want clear hitting bass..
or use a 1.3cubic ft of ported enclosure tuned to 30 or 35 hz if you want loud bass..

since u got a 1000wrms amp it would be too much power for the sub.. be carefull u dont unload the woofer...

one more thing your aim of making 1 sound like 2 is extremely difficult and u need to expert enclosure building techniques.

again.. giving 1000wrms to a 600wrms capable sub is gonna squash your sub in no time..

The Power series 2 can handle 1000 watts RMS but the price is crazy high... $700.00 retail. Am sure some e-tailer is willing to cut price to under $400.00 if you shop it hard. The Power Stage 1 is 600 RMS. The Power Stage 2 is 1000 RMS. Both come in 4+4 or 2+2 DVC's.

Say more about that amp you have here. Is it 1,2 or 4 channel and ow low an ohmic load can it handle? Make & model # is good or Mfg link to specs is even better.

Tks,
Swez

PS Are you familair with Adire's Brahma (SQ & SPL) or Resonance Engineering's XXX (mainly high SPL) series?

1.Power/Box Specs: http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/BrahmaPowerHandling.pdf

1a.General Tech Info: http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/cut%20sheets/Brahma%20Sales%20Brochure.pdf $379.00 (direct price)

2. http://respl.com/

2a. Resonance Engineering site. Seems to be down at the moment. This sub is more for high SPL applications, but can deliver very good SLQ performance, depending on the enclosure used.

I am all out of money here and I can get the power stage 1 sub. My amp is 4 ohms is 500 watts, and 2 ohm is 800 watts, and 1 ohm is 1016 watts. This amp is CEA compliant, but when I try to go less than 4 ohms yea does this thing hog the power, I can drop my voltage down to 12 volt really fast., Im still checking all the grounds on the whole truck I have hear that gm has some bad grounds in some trucks
