Hey everyone. Few questions for ya. First off, am I mis-reading sources which appear to indicate 3 piece component systems (like a 6.5" woofer, a 4" ...smaller woofer, and a tweeter) exist and are available for purchase? If so, would the mid-sized woofer do much for SQ? Secondly, I'd like to put some components in my 4Runner. The factory front speaker location is in the dash, angled down. This would be great if my ears were in my lap, but they're not. I thought about cutting the door, but noticed that the gears for the power windows sweep pretty much all the way through the inside of the door, making speaker mounting difficult. Then I thought about the kick panel, and had the idea of a 3 piece component set with the 6.5" down there, a 4" in the factory hole, and the tweeter somewhere above the dash. Bad idea, good idea? One final question then I'll stop rambling. If I put a speaker in the kick panel, will the magnet interfere with the computer which is mounted nearby? Thanks, and sorry this was so long. :) Replies (2) xplicitblitzboi on 06/26/2003 16:56:06 no, you are not misreading anything, there are 3 way component systems. for example: http://www.cdtaudio.com/classic2000MidDriv.htm the kicks sound like a great idea, and it should work well with the tweets on the dash and the factory located mid. but i dunno about that computer. magnets and computers dont go together very well. might want to ask scott as he has had more experience with installs than i have. ttocs u wanna take the rest of this one? Pinch on 07/1/2003 12:23:39 See, that's the thing. I am sure that the computers they put in cars are more robust than your average PC, but a magnet designed to produce a powerful EM field can't be good for them. Then again I'd probably have to build/order a new kick panel to mount the speakers in, so maybe I could move the speaker away from the computer a little. I wonder if I should move the computer.
