I just realized my sub is 8 ohms.I thought it was 4 ohms. The amp is bridged at 4 ohms 400watts(not running all 400w).Speaker rating is 200rms -400max.Will this blow my speaker or amp? Any suggections will be helpful..thanks

You should be fine on this one. An 8 ohm load is safe for bridged amps. Also, since your amp is rated at 400 watts @ 4 ohms, you'll get 200 watts @ 8 ohms and safe for the sub and amp.

This combination will only be 3 dB less than the same sub with a 4 ohm coil and all 400 watts to same. You can make up the difference in dB loss but using a ported enclosure. That assumes the sub you have is spec'd for a ported box.

What sub/amp do you have now? Comments?

get a 2nd 8 ohm and wire it in parallel to get the amp to push max pwr.

Also understand that your amp is bridged at the impedence(ohms) that the speaker equals. So your amp is bridge at 8 ohms, not 4.
