Hello. I am wrapping the console I built with a good quality vynil. Will the 3M adhesive work well when the vehicle gets hot? should I invest in that expensive stuff the upholster's use? Thanks in advance... Replies (2) ttocs on 11/2/2004 19:59:15 I would tell you to do it right, do it once. You can always try the 3M but you may have to re-do it later. If you have access to the glue and the spray gun the go for the good stuff. swez on 11/2/2004 20:22:11 I have found the 3M Super 77 spray to be an excellent adhesive. Just have to use enough of it to cover both the vinyl and the console. Let each part dry about 10 minutes and roll on your vinyl by hand. Then, use a laminate roller to apply maximum pressure to get best contact to all mating surfaces. NOTE: Depending on the vinyl characteristics, it may stretch, sag or delaminate on sharp corners and tight radius surfaces. Here, careful dry fit and cuts will help a lot. A test patch would be most helpful on a scrap piece of console material. If the console is ABS plastic or similar man made polymer... definitely do a test patch on an unseen area be fore you commit to the whole project.
