I was just wondering what else I need to hook up satelite radio. I know I'd need an antenna, but it I already have an "XM ready" HU, what does that save me? Don't I still need a reciever for XM? Are there 3 thing needed (antenna and reciever and ....), and because I have the XM ready HU, I only need 2 things (antenna and ....)? Thanks, Alan Replies (4) curtis73 on 11/1/2004 12:13:37 Yes, you'll still need the tuner. At least as of a month ago there were no HUs with the receiver in them. XM ready means much the same as CD changer ready. It just has the plug for the box, and the display and software is designed to display and control the XM functions. Non-XM ready HUs require some other means of getting the music in and the box controlled. Usually (just like add-on CD changers) they have a separate display/control unit and transmit on 88.7 FM. You need the XM ready HU, the receiver, antenna, and I think that's it. Well, aside from the subscription. :) alanjlamore on 11/1/2004 13:28:36 OK, thanks for clearing that up. The subscription is what I can convince my wife to "let" me get. It's the other stuff that's delaying the process LOL. ttocs on 11/1/2004 13:42:46 and you will need a subscription and by the sound of it some diamond earrings....... alanjlamore on 11/1/2004 13:55:21 LOL she's more of a cheese cake type. The holes in her ears closed a while back 'cause she doesn't wear earings. Plus if I just buy food to bribe her, I'll have more money left over for the equipment. HAPPY She just spent over $100.00 on shoes and clothes, so I have some leverage GRIN $10.00/month is well worth not having comercials. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
