hey guys.. i got a small problem...

one of my friend and customer is a bit short on budget.. he wants to spend Rs.75000... ie.. 1500$ for his new car audio..

he wants SPL performance..

now the problem is that only sony.. blaupunkt.. alpine and nakamichi operate officially in india.. all other products ie, pioneer, earthquake, Power Acoustik, JBL, Audiobhan etc are smuggled into india thru various channels.. He is very staunch on using only products with warranty.. and only the above stated 4 official companies in india provide with a warranty,,

I got a dealership of all sony and blaupunkt.. but i wanna do a good install for him cause he is a friend of mine. so i dont mind using alpine or nakamichi too till its in the price range..

please suggest what kind of setup should i go with..

thanks in advance..

Gee, that's a very small window of opportunity to work within. Alpine would be my first set of options and Blau might be #2. Nak would be a bit pricey (fine gear) but more about SQ then SPL. "People in Hell, want ice water too!"

Sony? Probably your best bet in SPL based amps that are affordable (but less reliable) than most of the big name brands here in the States. Their HU's are not bad performers, amps are often very over rated in power specs and subs/speakers... I dunno? They arn't very robust for the true SPL install.

Since you have Blau lines, how are their speakers and subs for power and durability? Researching thier HU's shows them to have several very good product offerings in that area. But, their subs really lack power handling and their amps are pretty modest as well. (PCA series is 200 RMS x 2 and all subs I noted are in the same range. (200 RMS)
==================================================
Nak sub: SP-W1200D

Specs: http://www.nakamichiusa.com/auto/subwoofer/sp_w1200d_specs.htm

Prices: See these on sale here for $160.00/ea. (6+6 DVC) 450 RMS per sub.

Amps: a limited offering on amplifers. 100 x 4 or 50 x 4.

Alpine offerings:

We all like the SWR series subs. Great SPL/SQ performance and reasonable prices here.

Amp: Alpine MRD-M1001 (1000 watts RMS @ 2 ohms MONO)

Specs: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-H4p7KiqlCPy/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=130&I=500MRDM1&search=alpine&wmsf=1

Prices: Not a cheap amp here. List is $900.00. Best deal I can find is just under $600.00

Subs:
Alpine Type -R series: 300 RMS DVC's (under $125.00 USD/ea.)
Alpine Type-X SWX-1242D 1000 RMS, 4+4 DVC (not cheap) Need a 2 ohm stable amp for 1 of these. ($260.00 - 499.00 USD here)

Specs:http://www.crutchfield.com/S-H4p7KiqlCPy/cgi-bin/ProdGroup.asp?g=67700&avf=N&search=alpine&wmsf=1

Sony

Amp:
Sony XM-DS1600P5

Specs: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-H4p7KiqlCPy/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=130&I=158XMDS16P&search=sony&wmsf=1

Prices: Under $200 USD here

Subs: Sony XS-L121P5

Specs: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-H4p7KiqlCPy/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=67700&I=158L121P5&search=sony&wmsf=1

Prices: Under $60.00/ea.

Best price system:

HU: Blau or Sony

Amp: Sony

Subs: 1 Alpine Type X or a pair of Nakamichi SP-W1200D's

Hope that helps,
