I think I'm actually starting to gain some useful knowledge about car audio stuff, using and looking at this site for the past couple of months now. Right now, I'm in a situation where I basically need to totally redo my entire system in my Towncar, and I'm thinking that I'm probably going to end up using a lot of different brands to get the job done right. The only piece of high end quality equipment I have right now that I will be using in the future is my Audiobahn A1500HCT Monoblock Amp (stable down to 2000w RMS @ 1ohm $1000 MSRP yada yada). I'm willing to buy expensive equipment, just not anything that's absurd (ex. - $2000 for HU)
What brands do you highly recommend (especially talking to you installers and people w/ years of experience). It might be useful to know that I want a SQ/DB comprimise - I want it all from good companies :) I know I'm requesting a lot, but thats what this site is for right?
1. Top 5 High End HUs
2. Top 5 High End Internal Speakers (including Tweeters)
3. Top 5 High End Subwoofers (12" and bigger please)

I'll add that none of these are in order of which is best, I just listed them as i found the names. as for components, i would like to be more specific, but what kind of space are we workin with here, you running 5.25s? 6.5s?
I mixed in SQ and SPL for the subs, but they all have excellent SQ, so i dont think you will be dissappointed with whichever one you choose if you decide to go with any of my recommendations.

Yep, good suggestions here so far and as HU's go Alpine, Clarion and Pioneer Premier series are very good choices as well
As for Component speakers, CDT, Diamond, Focal , Chrystal, Boston Acoustics, MB Quarts and Audiovox, Dynaudio, ADS, Dynavox, Audax and Vifa ... are all fine systems. Some of these are HT component designs that easily adapt to car installs
Subs are pretty well covered. Both SPL and SQ. JL W7 and JBL GTi series
Amps: Sub amps are Bahn, Cadence, MMats, HiFonics, JBL Power series Oz, and PPI.
As for high end interior amps, PPI, Phoneix Gold, Memphis, Sound Stream and Zapco top the list.

The JL 13W7 is a beautiful speaker in both design and quality. Its my personal favorite amongst the 'High End" gear. That is the only sub as of right now that I can even recommend. Bottom line is the W7s are probably as close to the ideal Subwoofer as it gets today.
Kind of a shame the JL components arent up there in the lists. Yes the old component sets were nothing much to talk about but I think the XR series sound beautiful as compared to Diamond and MB Quarts. One of my biggest reasons is because they sound great from a good high power HU.
(The local JL Audio Car is the best SQ car I ever heard in my life)
As for HUs I have bought nothing but Clario ProAudio my past two decks as opposed to Eclipse decks mainly because I think the Clarions look better. So...I guess my answer for this one would be Eclipse.

LOL YES, I SAID RAMPAGE, YOU CAN GET 2 8" SUBS WITH DURABLE ACOUSTIC CARPETING AND NEON LIGHTS THAT FLASH WITH THE BEAT. THAT WOULD BOOM HEYLA LOUD DAWG!!!
