i have a 96 mitsubishi galant and i am installing the new cd player myself, i have two blue acc power wires and i have two other wire, one is for dimmer and one is for luminosity...what do i do with these? the pioneer radio i just got does not have a place for these! (this is my first time) Replies (2) Munchiesyumm on 10/26/2004 13:24:57 well.. The more simple anwser is you don't need them they are for you're stock deck only. Fallow the instructions on the installation manuel for you're new aftermarket cd player and it will start right up! The first time is a little tricky and confusing with all the extra wires that aren't going to be used I know! But only use the wires the deck calls for it shows every single one on the diagram =) Just make sure you seal them up with electrical tape so they don't cause any problems. NEVER leave wires just sitting around without some sort of protection. I hope it works the first time :) swez on 10/26/2004 15:58:33 The wires mentioned... are these from the Factory Stock unit you just removed? If yes, purchase a conversion harness kit for the new install. Makes things pretty simple. To make your new Pioneer CD player work, you need a minimum of the following wires to make it work. Black = Ground (body ground to floor pan is best) Yellow = a constant 12 volt source that retains memory and clock functions Red = is power lead off ACC/IGN circuit. The 4 pairs of multi-color wires are for your speakers. The Manual will tell you which pairs go to which speakers The new HU may have a blue wire in the harness for REMote power to an amplifier if used. Some HU's have 2 blue wires. One for REM, the other for power antenna. The manual has that detail as well. Finally, many upper end HU's have ILL/Dimmer wires. They dim the deck lights at night, when the dash lights are on. The manual explains how to install that feature as well. Good luck, Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
