Ive been seriously thinking about purchasing the Kenwood KVT915-DVD headunit but I noticed something that makes me pause. It talks about only being able to view the DVD video while the vehicle is in park. Is anyone familiar with installing this and being able to bypass this problem or either trick the headunit into allowing video viewing while the vehicle is in motion. I noticed that some of the other manufacturers have something similar. Any info would be great. Anyway any local installer can probaly tell ya how to bypass it. if ttocs has experience with the kenwoods then he can probaly walk you threw it as well. Chronos UKinstaller on 10/26/2004 07:17:08 very easy to bypass. there is a long wire that comes from the beck of the deck labeled brake. you are supposed to run it to the emergency brake. when you pull up your emergency brake, it shows 0 volts, or ground, to the wire, which is what the head unit needs to see in order to play back dvd video. all you have to do is tie the wire into the ground on the back of the radio, that way the wire is constanly seeing 0 volts, overriding the "only watch while in park" feature. ridiculously easy to do. all head units except for alpine, you bypass it like this. alpines are much harder, but can be done. -UK Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
