What would be the RMS to put these subs to there full potential Replies (13) UKinstaller on 10/25/2004 21:00:43 300 watts for the 10 and 12, 500 for the 15. -UK 2fastxd on 10/25/2004 21:20:46 I went to Audiotronics and they said they tested it and it is above that 2fastxd on 10/25/2004 21:21:04 More for the 300rms 12" UKinstaller on 10/25/2004 21:23:15 nope. -UK Munchiesyumm on 10/25/2004 23:02:35 You may give the subwoofers more power they will generally take an extra 50w + and love it but factory specifications say 300w RMS. I generally run subs a tad bit over their RMS just to insure the subs get used to their full potential. This way you can use less boost and get cleaner bass responce. But be reasonable don't overpower them too much bad things happen when you do this. 2fastxd on 10/25/2004 23:12:04 Can i use this with 2 of these, http://www.cardomain.com/item/JBLBP6001Z?ref=deal Thx Munchiesyumm on 10/26/2004 00:01:18 Yes! The JBL 600.1 monoblock is a very good amplifier! It's power rattings are @ 12v so you're right with this amplifier you'll be giving each sub a little more than 300w RMS each if you're electrical system allows it. This system will have some very healthy bass and you'll definatly be happy with it. The Type R's are good subs with decent SQ and are up there with the other highend subwoofers. The JBL 600.1 and The Alpine Type R 12's will be a very good match! Both are highend quality products and you can exspect nothing but great results! What kind of deck are you picking out to run this amplifier? Remember if you're going to go topline subs, and amp it's best to give it a nice 4v preamp to insure the best bass results! Any more questions are welcome! 2fastxd on 10/26/2004 00:06:27 Since that will be all my money, lol, I might have to stick wit my boss mp3 cd receiver, one more question , wut do you think about this box for these subs http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_1543.html# Trust me last ?, LOL , THank You Alot of help Munchiesyumm on 10/26/2004 00:15:32 Boss huh? Welll..... When I first got into car audio I blew up 2 really really exspensive nice subs with a 200w boss amp. So everytime I hear the name I quench. Most people would go with the Pioneer DEH 1600 for 89.99 I mean I'm poor too thats what I did =) sorry to disapoint you but thats a terrible box and I bet you after shipping costs from them you'd be spending about $90 dollars. It says MDF but it doesn't say what thickness and it doesn't even say what size the box is. lol Stay away from that stuff! I suggest you go with a sealed box, I use R/T Enclosures which are more cost efficent and hold up pretty well. They are still intact after years of hardcore bass hitting and the same with my friends 1333w system. If you start messin around with ported boxes you loose ur entire wallet, trunk, and it doesn't even sound better it just makes a 2-4db difference. The money/bass ratio isn't that much better. If you wanna get fancy and spend 90 bucks definatly get a SUB ZONE box.. uochronos on 10/26/2004 02:36:59 the power handling of subs change mattering what size box and what not slightly. the fact is these subs can reach Xmax at 300watts in a proper enclosure if you give them alot more power then you well go beyond xmax eventualy damaging the sub. basicaly who cares how much power your using if your getting the full excursion out of the sub that is going to mean how loud it is. as for a box most local shops have prefabricated enclosure that are 1cubic foot per sub and thats what the type R's call for. no it wont be an amazing box but i picked one up for my type R's for 40$ and it was 3/4 inch MDF and worked very nicley for a year till i built my own custom box. i suggest youc all around local shops tell them you want a prefabricated box that is for 12" subs and is 1cubic foot per sub Chronos 2fastxd on 10/26/2004 15:55:20 So will it be better to use a ported or a sealed? uochronos on 10/27/2004 03:06:53 better? neither is better. ported you gain louder with lower end bass moer pronounced with sealed you lose a slight bit of volume and not as heavy a low end sound but its cleaner and sounds better to many. its a personaly prefernce more then anything else Chronos Relax_The_Mind on 10/28/2004 13:55:31 a sealed box with subs facing the rear would sound excellent in a neon trunk although there is plenty room for a ported box in there. Personally I think sealed boxes sound better in sedans trunks and ported boxes sound better in hatchbacks and suvs. just my opinion though. just have to spend a day or two dampening all the parts in your trunk becuase they rattle a lot. mainly the tail lights. (my girl has a neon) Matching the box to the subs specs is key. accounting for the airspace taken up by the subs and stuff. vicflo Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
