NEW CAR INSTALLATION PROBLEM!!! HELP!!!

I just got a 2004 GMC Envoy. I am leaving the factory CD player in it as is. I have a Memphis 15" speaker from the Mazda 626 I had before the Envoy. I have a Sony XPlod 250W amp. When we thought we were done with the installation we ran into a problem. There is nothing coming out of the speaker and all the connections seem to be the right ones. The amp is in working order. The speaker isn't blown because we've pulled a number of working speakers into the car to try to get sound and there is nothing. When it's hooked to the Envoy's CD player like we intend it to be, it works fine but there's nothing from the sub. We've tried new wires, new rca cables (4 new pairs) and everything else we could possibly think of we still have no idea what is going on. PLEASE HELP!!!!! We've been working on this since this morning!

ooooh, more than likely a bose system. did you add a line out convertor?? if so, which wires and where did you tap into to get the rca outs?? if it is a bose system, there is much more work to be done, and it will not be cheap. if it is not a bose system, then we'll have to check out other possibilites. i'm willing to bet that it is though. it should say bose on one of the speakers or something, maybe in the owners manual.

oh yeah, does the amp turn on??

bose systems definitly make it harder....

You might be able to tap into the rear factory sub in the back if that is the case...

It wasn't a Bose system and the Sony XPlod amp that we bought when we thought the amp was the problem turned out to not be the problem after all. The problem was in the remote wire which had power in accessory and on position but only had 11.3 Volts which we found out it needed at least 12 Volts to turn the amp on. The light would come on but it wasn't getting enough power to completely turn on the amp. We found another place to tap the power out of that had almost 13 Volts. Thank you for your help though and I hope this could be a time saver for anyone else having a similar problem.

what did you tap into to get sound to the amplifier?? whether you used RCA's, speaker level inputs, or whatever, what did you use?

also, i would just tap into the ignition harness for 12v switched to the amp.

The Envoy's have another fuse box behind the driver's seat so we tapped in to the HVAC (air conditioning system), to get the power we needed. We used the RCA's, the only thing having a problem was the remote wire, or getting enough power through it to turn on the amp. Once we found a power source we were good to go.

i don't think we're on the same page here bud. what are your rca's connected to, in other words, where did you tap in for your audio signal to your amp??

the rca's are connected to the amp and into a scosche car stereo installation kit.

what is this scosche car stereo installation kit made up of?? what does it include?? if you used your factory radio, why did you have to have an installation kit?? clear this up a little and we can help more.
