Speaker Trouble

I am having a problem with my interior speakers, today I was driving and they all of a sudden cut out on me. I did have my bass up quite loud but nothing has ever happened before. I don't see how this would have effected the interior speakers because they run directly from the head unit. Now when i turn my stereo on the subwoofers only work. I did check each interior speaker and they were connected securely the way i installed them. I checked each speaker on my home system and they all worked fine. Also I checked the headunit connections and they were all secure also. I am out of ideas on what it could be. My system specs are listed below. Please help! thanks.

HU: JVC KD-LH3150
Speakers: Polk Audio 6.5"
Subwoofers: 2 12" Audiobahn AW1200Q
Amp: JBL BP1200.1

Is it possible your HU went bad?, If they all just cut off except for your subwoofers and their not amplified by any means other than the HU then its either A. Your HU went bad internally, or B. a short somewhere along the speaker wire. Obviously the speakers themselves are fine since you tested the speakers on your home audio system, and if you checked all connections from the HU to the Speaker terminals themselves that narrows it down pretty drastically.

Thats all i can think of, im sure Swez, Chronos, ttocs, or one of the other guys well be here shortly.

I hope the HU didn't go bad, it is fairly new. The 15A fuse on the HU wasn't blown, I just hope it isn't something internal.

I agree.. its has to be the HU .. try checking out running ur speakers on amp.. use the RCA instead of the high level output.. i doubt that the speaker lever output of the HU may have messed up due to some or the other reason.. what do ya say guys??

If its a fairly new HU then its probably still under warrenty....how old is it? and is it still covered under factory warrenty?

I had the same problem in my 1993 half ton. it turned out it was a wire to a speaker from the HU, that was grounding out on another speaker wire, completely killed my highs. try hooking one speaker up directly to the HU, unhook all other speakers, run wires straight to it, turn it on, see if it works, if so, its a wire short, if not, then you got an HU problem. also might wanna check your RCA cables for a short, as that could be the culprit here too.

ya this would either have to be a bad HU compoenent or a wire shorting or grounding out somewhere. i dont know of anything else able to cause it to cut in and out. unless the cd was skipping:) just kidding.
