Best 6x9's

My sister wants to run some 6x9's in the back of her 2002 Cavalier. She wants to run them off her Kenwood deck 200W x 4, I figure 17-19WRMS. She has two new 10" Kenwood subs. What do you figure is the best speaker/brand/moddel to look for? She would like them to be around $50, but doesn't have to be. Thanks

if she ahs subs why get 6x9's? the only advantage 6x9's have over 6.5 inch round speakers is they put out more bass. but they also sound like crap compared to decent 6.5's i would suggest finding a pair of 6.5's and mounting them there. its simple to do and well net far superior sound. also 6.5's are way cheaper...

I never thought of that, that's why I ask here first, thanks a lot. So should I just look for the name brand stuff and go with something that looks good? Dumb question...how does marine stuff sound in a car? Thanks a lot

If she wants to surface mount a pair of boxes in the back, a 2-way coaxial is a good option. Can use small format speakers like 4", 5.25" or even better MB performance with 6.5" speakers. The smaller the profile of the enclosure, the better.... like a wedge with dual chambers and speakers firing forward at a slight angle, toward the doors.

If there are 6x9 holes in the rear deck already, keep them open for bass to come into the cabin via these holes. Her "best speakers" should be mounted up front. Door mounts are fine and kick panels are even better. Dash mounted speakers... Ehhh, not so hot a location. Amping the front speakers is a definite plus here to blend with the subs in back. The rear speakers are just fill and can be powered off the HU amps.

Marine speakers are not a bad option. The main difference is that they are designed for outdoor applications. They can take high temperatures and humidity better than a standard speaker will.

I don't think surface mounting is an option, she usually has the back seat down anyways. So would the 6.5's need a plate to fit in nice? The front doors have 4x6's is there any way a componet set could fit in there, or what would the best speaker be. Kick pannels are not an option unless they were dirt cheap. Thanks for the help.

a 5.25 component with a mounting plate or a 4" component well fit in the front.

you can get a mounting plate for the rear 6x9 holes for liek maybe 10$ maybe a tad more.
