alright i have already done the calculations for the stock electronics and the amp power and still have lots of amps left (mainly due to using a 100 watt amp) It is a Rockford Fosgate PUNCH amplifier and all the wiring is done the way ive been told to/seen done (straight to battery for battery... remote in deck.... ground PERFECTLY grounded) and its burned 1 alternator and then again last week.... i heard maybe i would need to hook the battery up where my deck gets its power (the constant hot wire when car is turned on i believe) let me know all opinions on this situation Replies (5) uochronos on 10/15/2004 21:12:27 burned one amlternator??? how did you kill 2 alternators in 2 weeks this is not the cuase of the ampsa if it killed a newe alt in 1 week there is a bigger problem here. if your amplifer is pulling too much power from alt then the alt well wear out fast but thats months not days it would take... sounds to me as if there is a much bigger electrical problem,. Chronos P0werLifter on 10/16/2004 02:28:14 If you've killed 2 alternators within 2 weeks..theres much bigger issues here. Give us some more information as to what has changed since you upgraded your electricals. What have you changed? Victor on 10/16/2004 16:41:02 i agree .. there is a much major issure with the electronic system of your car.. seems to me that some wire must be sticking out loose or cut... or wired improperly .. better consult a locar electrical advisor or an expert mechanic.. and one thing i wud say for sure... " DO NOT" hook up any of your audio gadgets at this stage.. first fix the electrical problem and then do it.. or else you wud be risking your expensive audio gear.. ssallstar598 on 10/24/2004 18:40:33 well i took it to my mechanic and he found the problem.... (i dont know what it is... my dad does.. ill ask him...) Faded on 10/24/2004 19:52:09 i had something kinda similar to that but not that major the wire from my alt to my battery melted in half but nothing was wrong with either my battery or my alternator i just had to run a new wire(the new wire is huge) Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
