Has anyone heard anything regarding these decks? I understand Clarion is a pretty well respected maker of car audio gear and wanted to get some feedback before I purchase. I have also considered the high end decks from Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, Sony, and an Audiobahn but I am leaning toward the Clarion. Again any feedback is much appreciated. SMILE Replies (5) UKinstaller on 10/14/2004 08:10:06 clarion does make good stuff, but if you are looking at pioneer or alpine, i would go with them. pioneer's higher end stuff is usually very good, and alpine is one of the kings of car audio as far as performance and quality go. in my experience, drop the sony, audiobahn, and kenwood from your choices. sony just makes garbage, audiobahn doesn't make great HU's, and kenwoods break very easily for some reason. we used to carry kenwoods at circuit city, but as time has gone on their quality and name has gone down. if it were me, i'd go with the alpine. you can't go wrong with it. my information might be a little biased, so listen to others and see what they say. we'll probably all say the same about sony though. good luck -UK Crum on 10/14/2004 11:36:14 I know that the touch screen is a matter of personal preference, but I know what my PDA looks like after a couple of years of use and I personally wouldn't want my HU screen looking like that. But Clarion products are reasonably priced. uochronos on 10/14/2004 11:41:28 alpine, pioneer premier, clarion, and kenwood. would be my choices in that order. as for that specific clarion deck i wouldnt buy it the touch screen seems like it may go out or get damaged easily. i usualy avoid decks that have gizmos on them such as motorized faceplates, touch screens, etc. that is just asking for trouble down the road as i have learnd from experience. Chronos P0werLifter on 10/14/2004 12:55:32 I agree, same order as chronos stated above. The touch screens look really sweet, eventually ill probably put one in my truck when i get my TV screens purchased but for now ill stick with the regular type of HU GRIN . Its up to you, i havnt really researched the touchscreen HU's much so i dont have much I can offer on this topic. -Jason zInal3 on 10/14/2004 13:04:02 I have been using the clarion touchscreen for a month now , i'm satisfied with the clarity it produced. Although it has many functions such as the virtual sound enhancement, ADF, or the P.EQ.. i never used it that much because its already *Sweet* with the sound produced when the setting is Flat .( but depends on ur overall system) To be honest , i choose this headunit because its a 24 bit, its touchscreen, plays mp3 and its very solid and attractive, and to make my friends envy it. :) Sony and Kenwood are okay.. but there are a lot of better ones to choose from nowadays. The choice is yours.. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
