Hey guys I just have a question for ya. A while back b4 i installed my subs into the enclosure the one of the VC's turned slightly, so i tightened it back up and put it back in the position i believed it was in. Well every since then on that one subwoofer I can hear a pretty loud slapping sound at 30-40hz at high power, and even at low power you can hear it slightly. I was reading somewhere that this could be the cause of a misaligned Voice Coil or something along those lines. Any input on this? Theres no reason for the sub to be blown at all..or any mechanical failures..their run at 900watts RMS and the SSF is set at 30hz Any ideas guys?Comments? -Jason Replies (5) ttocs on 10/12/2004 22:15:55 tightened the VC? That is an internal piece that you normally do not touch..... P0werLifter on 10/12/2004 23:39:03 It became loose around the torque tight section where you attach the subwire. It just moved sideways on the very top of it where it connects to the tightening screw..hard to describe lol uochronos on 10/13/2004 02:04:04 i would definatly assume this could likly be the cause PL these subs still under warranty? is so just send them in. swez on 10/13/2004 13:54:51 This sounds like lead in wire slap. A condition where the cone excursion is so great that the tinsel type wires that go from termination posts to internal voice coils, slap against the back of the cone. Try re-positioning the leads so they have maximum clearance from the cone. If one lead is noticably longer than the other, this is most likely the problem.
