Hi, new to the boards and looking for some info. Heres my setup right now: Infinity 5 Channel Amp- pushing Infinity Kappa 6 1/2 Component System up front, and used to have Infinity Kappa 6 1/2 in rear deck. Orion 600watt Amp- pushing 2 polk 12's in bandpass enclosure. I blew my Infinity's in the rear deck over the summer and sent them back to Ikesound.com After waiting nearly 3 months now, they still say the speakers are on backorder and are offering my $130 store credit. So I'm looking for something that has good mid-range (what I've lacked) and will sound good with my current setup. Out of the speakers I have to choose from (http://www.ikesound.com/category-category_id/4) I'm looking at the Alpine SPR-174A 2-ways and the Sony XS-HD160G 3-ways. I'm also wondering what the difference in sound quality is between the 3-way and 2-way speakers in general. Thanks for any help it is much appreciated! Chronos swez on 10/13/2004 20:01:41 Agreed.... Alpine 2-ways would be a good choice here. I prefer full range in the back while other prefer either MB only or nothing at all... just subs. Avoid the 3&4-way designs as they use cheap components and crossovers. You may get decent MB from them, but mids/highs are typically poorly balanced and just don't cut it. If you really want something sweet for SQL performance, CDT 61-a's are a great 6.5" Comp set. Use these up front and move your Infinity Comps to the rear channels. Much better MB performance up front and if you would like a bit more MB in rear, delete the tweeter & crossovers. Which Infinity 5 channel do you have now?
