i know a couple of you guys have this amp in your system right now, and i was just wondering how hot it runs. does it shut off after long use, i had an mtx thunder 304 that was probably about the same power as this one and it would shut off after about 25 mins of use just running a set of mtx 4x6s and a set of mtx 6x9s, i just want to know that if i buy this amp im not going to have to have the same problem as before, and i will be runnin all speakers at 4ohm so that should help on the heat too right? once again thanx for all the help. and if you can think of any other amps that are about the same power list them too so i can take a look. Replies (8) compvr15s on 06/23/2003 13:48:43 another question, is the kicker kx300.4 close to the power as the 4065, if so id prefer that amp to go along with my 2 kx600.1s and its also fan cooled, i can get it off e-bay for 129 which is a lil more more than the 4065 but then all my equipment will be the same brand. Buickman94 on 06/23/2003 20:56:10 the 4065 is 65 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms, compated to the kx300.4 which is 38 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms. the 4065 can also be had for alot less. xplicitblitzboi on 06/24/2003 00:31:32 i own the 4065 at the moment, and i love it, its never turned off on me. ever. i think you will be really happy with it. i have it running my CDT comps in my 92 cavalier. and all i have to say is wow. good luck Blitz Swez on 06/24/2003 00:28:57 Have heard no reports on USX or USB amps running hot under normal load conditions. MTX had a real problem with thermal management a while back. Frankly, after reviewing MTX products for a while , they have little out there that impresses me for the prices they charge. Kicker makes a few very good amp products and the power you need, depends on the speakers used. (power ratings that is) Swez xplicitblitzboi on 06/24/2003 00:39:16 Actually, if you can find a good deal on MTX on ebay. they have gotten a lot better in the quality range of their amps at the moment. im still a little leary of the subs that they make, but i own one of their amps, and its way under-rated, I had it pushing my subs for a while and it pushed them really well, but when u got the amp pushin to its max for a few hours, it gets a little hot. other than that, its a great amp, and i would definetly own another mtx amp. the only problem like swez said, is affordability at times. Swez on 06/24/2003 08:08:13 Yes, not that I am totally down on MTX products, but the older products were not engineered as well as some of the newer amps. My biggest issue with them (MTX) is the retail pricing structure and the subs they offer are no where near up to par with other subs in that price class. Also, they used to rate their amp power at 14.4 volts input.... NO CAR CAN OBTAIN/SUSTAIN THAT VOLTAGE FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES AFTER A COLD START !!! THINK Again, the newer sub amps have improved to a degree... but this is more a personal bias as there are many procucts out there that will bury any MTX system in same price range. That's my story and I am sticking to it! Swez dflock on 06/24/2003 12:57:09 I always wanted one of those beasts, the 2300X. Never got it, just too damn big. But I always read good reviews about. Not to mention an A/B class amp that puts out a modest 750 watts RMS is impressive. Swez on 06/24/2003 18:07:38 A friend of mine has (has/d) a pair of them for a while and they were beastly amps... but really sucked huge amps from the electricals and heated up very much too. Not sure if he still has them, but he bought a set of Bass Mechaniks to replace them... much better amps as compared to his old 2300's. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
