Chronos swez on 10/17/2004 10:52:49 Is one of your computers integrated to the stock HU? Most GM's have an ECM (Engine Control Module) and a BCM (Body Control Module). There is often a 3rd/4th computer or data line for ABS brakes and Air bags. Definitely don't mess with Air bag deployment circuits as these babies will set you back close to a grand if you deploy one. Most factory HU's are easily swapped with Aftermarket bretheren with minimal effort. Just pull out the stock one, use a conversion harness and install the new one using the harness... but ground the new HU to floor pan or fire wall. (NOT THE WIRING HARNESS GROUND) The most basic wiring is power wire from HU to IGN/ACC in fuse panel. A constant 12 volt source off the battery for memory/clock functions, an Illumination dimmer circuit (can eliminate that one if you wish) a remote amp turn on wire, maybe a power antenna lead and speaker outputs. I don't fully understand your comments about the new HU affecting the computers??? Can you explain that in some detail? Swez ttocs on 10/18/2004 01:30:50 there are parts of the car that may be multiplexed through the radio(dome light, door buzzer, ect) but I have not heard of any problems with the main computer related to radio's.
