I'm currently installing a Pioneer DEH-45 somthing i don't remember the exact model number into a 1992 Nissan NX. My question is after hooking up the factory adaptor harness to the pioneer harness, I have the REM wire off the Pioneer harness not in use which is ok because my buddy doesnt have any external amps, but on factory adaptor harness that plugs into the exisitng wiring from the factory stereo there is four wires not being used.: Not Being used from factory harness adaptor Orange - Illumination, Orange/White strip - Positive Dimmer Blue - Power Antenna Blue/White Strip - Amp turn on Black - Ground ( I grounded the black ground wire from the pioneer harness to the chassis) I assume that these are not needed but I just want to make sure. The only wire that is not being used on the pioneer harness is the REM wire everything else (Yellow battery, Red Acc, Black ground and the two front and rear speakers are hooked up). I just want to make sure I am doing this correctly and if this doesnt make any sence its because its 2:14 right now lol and i wanted to get this typed b4 i went to bed. Thanks, Jay Replies (8) uochronos on 10/10/2004 02:21:00 thats how my pooneer is wired same wires not being used. cplkittle on 10/10/2004 19:33:53 Is that the UK model? As far as I know that is correct, unless you have a power antenna. ttocs on 10/10/2004 23:02:04 looks good mang..... LC1 on 10/11/2004 13:01:51 I finshed installing this HU in to my friends car yesterday and everything works fine....but this morning when he got into his car smoke came out from around his instrument pannel and half of the display for is gauges went out. His instrument pannel is all digital and only some of the stuff is illuminated. I used a factory adaptor harness to hook up the HU and I didn't cut any wires or tap into anything. The only thing I did may have caused this but highly doubt, was that instead of drilling a hole in the floor/firewall of the car I found an existing bolt on the floor and losened that the grounded the ground wire there, is this ok to do? I think this may just be a fluke thing but I would feel bad if it was me that caused his gauges to short out. He still gets all the important stuff lit up like his tach, speedometer, oil, gas etc but its the scale of all these gauges that went out like the E, 1/2, F on his gas gauge etc. If anybody has any ideas as to what could have caused this that would be great, hopefully it was just a bad coincindece. -Jay- LC1 on 10/12/2004 18:36:25 Anybody have any thoughts on this topic? Would really appreciate some help for my friend here. Thanks, Jay ttocs on 10/12/2004 22:17:50 smoke is not a fluke.... There is an issue there... Did you insulate all the wires that were not being used? LC1 on 10/13/2004 17:58:11 Yep I insulated all the wires with electrical tape. What I meant by it being a fluke is that hopefully the HU and Instrument pannel were unrelated. I'd rather something else went wrong with his instrument pannel then have me being the culprit from installing the HU. The only thing that I can think of that maybe caused the pannel to short out is that maybe the factory HU and pannel shared the same power wire and now that I put in the new HU in it shorted it out. However, I did not cut or tap into any wires, just used the adaptor harness. -Jay- LC1 on 10/14/2004 18:43:21 Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
