gentlemen, (and any ladies that may or may not be on the site) i have noticed that we all immediately suggest the JBL powervalve series as suggestions for people looking for amps. however, i think the supply of them is dwindling on e-bay. are there any other cheap, efficient, powerful amps such as JBL's out there?? i'm gonna start looking for more ideas, possibly pitch a little more variety. lemme know what you think. -UK Replies (9) uochronos on 10/7/2004 02:47:15 Phoenix gold tantrum series can be ahd reasonably on ebay. still a bit high though. also profile amps at the zeb i have been suggesting thoughs they look good for a great price. Chronos swez on 10/7/2004 05:42:35 US Acoustics offers a few solid amps at reaonable prices too. Then, we have HiFonics, Orion, MTX, Precision Power, Phoenix Gold, MMatts, Autotek, Blaupunkt, Crossfire, Diamond Audio, DLS, Eclipse, Alpine, Infinity, JL, JBL, Power Acoustik, Pyle, Pyramid, American Bass, US Amps, Audiobahn, Kicker.... and the list goes on. The reason we often mention JBL power series is because they are very well made, reliable and one of the best bang for your buck amps out there. But now, JBL has released a new line of products (Infinity too) that are a lot more pricey. Both of these amps are part of the Harmon Intl., group which include Crown and Becker. OK... there's a short list for ya. Swez PS Want more? MTX amps are good but i have never cared for them seen a few go bad in friends installs. i personaly like alpine, PG, jbl, jl, rockford fosgate, and a few others i cant think of right now. those are the ones i would choose from when picking an amp for stability, durability, and effectivness. there are alot cheaper ones and alot mroe expensive ones but those are the best i personaly think for price and durability. with good power. LOL Swez asplundher on 10/8/2004 06:58:49 There is several out there that very good deals, but one that catches my eye is the Xtant A3001Ts. It is now currently going for $99 with free shipping at Electronicswarehouse on Ebay. Xtant is a very reputable company that offers smart electronics. This amp looks very favorable because it has the power of the JBL 300.1 and also includes a variable sub-sonic filter as well as other basic mono block features. A very good deal I think. uochronos on 10/8/2004 07:28:05 that would appear to be a very good deal... i would love to hear from people who have used xtant amps and find out how well built they are. i have heard there speakers before and thought they where good. looks as though that amp if it is made well is a greatoption for the money UKinstaller on 10/8/2004 09:22:37 one of the guys i work with has an xtant amp, and it is awesome. that sounds like a great deal, something definitely worth checking out. -uk swez on 10/8/2004 11:42:30 Maybe it is high time we set up a database on amplifier makers and links to same. We can do it in a A-Z format by company and links to their websites. This is a considerable project to compile all data and then it can be posted in our DIY/FAQ section. Would need several volunteers to help locate amp makers and their links. Then someone to coordinate all the data and links into the database. If we can get 3-4 ppl involved and one to format all this data, I am willing to do what I can to help/lead this project. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
