Hi all. I have Infinity Kappas 4.5 and 5.5 inch (four total in the car) front and rear respectively. I have a Pioneer DEH-MP4600P head unit and am looking for a solid amp. I may end up buying a subwoofer. I don't want loud bass, I just want it to fill out the range of music (I listen to everything). Should I get a five channel amp now: Earthquake TNT900 or, buy a 4 channel amp possibly Soundstream XTA 720.4. This will all be going into a rebuilt 1979 Mercedes Benz 240D (I realize it sounds funny, but it is a great car). PLEASE lemme know what you think! If you may eventually get a sub, you might as well plan on it when wiring. You'll need to determine how much umph your altenator can handle with an amp going to the four speakers and sub. I know the golds will tell you how much power you would be looking at. If power from your car looks to be a problem and don't want to upgrade, you could consider getting a four channel amp with power going to the two speakers in the front and a sub, then wire your rear speakers directly to the HU for fill. However, if you go to feeding the two front speakers and the sub, the four-channel amp will not be as efficient as a two-channel amp and a Class D amp for the sub. I know the Golds can give you more specific info. . . Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
