Bi-amping is a term that denotes separate power amps for different parts of the audio system. Most use bi-amping techniques by rumming the mids/highs off one am and the subs off a 2nd amp.

In each case, there are LP filters to block highs out of the subs and LP filters to remove the lows, out of the mid/highs.

More sophisticated system use tri/quad amping for their systems. Each major driver set has a separate amp and filtering. Ie: Tweets, Midrange, Midbass and subs. Can use passive filters on each device and a separate amp channel to each element of the system or use active filters to do the same thing. Depends on the degree of SQ you desire and how much your wallet can handle.

Does that answer your question?
