Im still a little unclear on which way i should go in my whole setup. I guess ill give list of some of the songs i could say fall into the range of music i listen too. Lots of Three six Mafia, Bone Thugs, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Cypress Hill, some Fugees: Fu Gee-la, nice bass, Techno, Dj Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, Apehx Twin: Xtal real nice bass. Metallica, all that. Id like to say im looking for Quality that hits hard. Ive already got 2 Adire Shivas, should order the JBL bp600.1 soon, so that leaves me needing a HU and a box. Given what ive said, what do you think i should go with, and where could i get it for a fair price? Replies (2) uochronos on 10/4/2004 02:24:05 as for an HU i suggest alpine, pioneer premier, and clarion. get one with what you need. EQ, 3 sets of preout rca's, and any other options you want. dont pay extra for stuff you wont use. as for a box with that list of bands i would suggest a larger end of the spectrum sealed box. thats what i would go with. Chronos swez on 10/4/2004 04:43:38 The Shiva's do very well in sealed enclosures between 1.0 - 1.5 cf/chamber. The smaller the box, the more punchy the bass will be. In larger enclosure ranges, the deep bass is more pronounced. Was recently helping a guy out who had a Shiva in a 0.85 cf enclosure. He indicated he built the box per Adire specs for a compact sealed enclosure and said the low bass was just not up to his expectations. After we discussed the matter, he plans to build a larger enclosure for more deep bass performance. I did make a sealed enclosure for a guy here in town using dual Shiva's in a 1.5 cf/chamber design. This was pretty good on the low bass performance and he also used a 600 RMS amp. (Sony) Not bad at all too. A bit boomy for my personal tastes. But, that was his request and he was pretty pleased with the results. HU choices... depends on your budget, the features you desire and enough preamp outputs to cover sub amp and perhaps a 2/4 channel amp for the mid/highs. As Chronos mentioned, Pioneer Premier, Clarion, Alpine are all solid performers. Others like JVC, Blaupunkt, Sony and Panasonic have some pretty good offerings as well. Crutchfield.com has a wide selection of 1-Din (case size) HU's from all brands noted. They have very good technical details on most models they sell and have excellent customer service and install guides available too. Yes, they tend to be ~25% higher in cost for all the extra services. But, their support and warrantee backup plan is well worth it. At the very least, browse their offerings and then do a Google search for the models you like best. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
